Admissions

At Hurst Lodge, we’re proud of our school community and we want every pupil to embrace their education knowing they are in a place where they belong.

For new families and students, we encourage you to contact us to get a rounded picture of what we offer.

Our friendly admissions team are here to help, and they have plenty of experience of helping families make the same step.

We don’t restrict admissions to a single point of entry; we welcome students into school all through the academic year.

The entry points for admission to Hurst Lodge School are:

  • Years 4-9
  • Lower Sixth (Year 12)

We do not accept any applications for Years 10, 11 or 13

If you’re considering Hurst Lodge for your child, and you would like further information, please get in touch with our Head of Admissions, Amanda Joy by email (admissions@hurstlodgeschool.co.uk) or call us on 01252 227002.

The Admissions Process

There are differing pathways for private, fee-paying families and those securing borough funding through an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).

The first step in the admissions process is to make contact with our admissions team for an informal discussion about your family’s needs and your child’s education to date. We would ask you to submit your child’s EHCP, if they have one, at this stage.

The SEN team will initially determine if the school can meet a child’s needs, based on:

  • EHCP and Annual Review paperwork (if applicable)
  • Diagnosis reports
  • School reports

We would also encourage you to book in for a tour of the school.

For EHCP students, once a tour has taken place, we will need a consultation from your Local Authority.

For fee paying families, at this point we would ask you to register with us, which requires payment of a non-returnable registration fee of £100.

We then arrange taster sessions to help your child get a sense of the school and to meet students in their peer group. This might be for a couple of hours, a half day, a whole day or, occasionally, over a series of sessions spread out across a week.

If all parties are in agreement that Hurst Lodge will provide the right environment for your child to thrive, you will receive an offer letter from us inviting you to join the Hurst Lodge family.

For EHCP students, an offer will also go to the funding Local Authority.

Our fees

The complex nature of our provision means there is no ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach in relation to school fees. What you pay will vary depending on the particular educational needs of your child and whether any funding support is available to you. Discussion of fees forms part of the admissions process, and if you would like to know more or if you have any questions, please get in touch today and a member of our school team will be happy to help.

The Village Hall

Along with our grounds the hall is an extra space for Performing Arts, indoor sports sessions, as well as nearby toileting facilities when we use the green.
